This once lovely old house at 102 Poplar may have once been owned by Dr. O.H. McMichael". Similarities in roof line, windowing and porch location would suggest that it is the same house.  (see below side view).

Those were kinder and happier times for the house which was no doubt filled with love and laughter and a family who cared.  But time took a cruel turn for the old home.  A number of years ago, the home was apparently moved from it's original location to Poplar Street.  For a time the house served as the office for the Phone Company.  The home had been neglected and "trashed" in recent years by people who either didn't know how to properly maintain a home or simply didn't care.  The house had become a health and safety hazard and beyond repair.  When the last "occupants" vacated, the city had the house appraised on July 26, 2000 and purchased the home for  it's $6,400 appraised value.  At the end of April, 2001, the home was demolished.   The property was taken over by Stoufer Auto and used for expansion of their business.

The backside of the home was demolished first.  Dennis Peterson's new machine, chewed up the dry old wood easily.
