We
would like to hear from residents in and around Vernon Center who can help
us fill in some of the history of the town. We also need
information on where some of the homes pictured here, were
located and who some of the people are. If you have
information or stories you would like added to the site, send them
in! To find out how Vernon Center got it's name, learn more
about the sister town of Edgewood and lots more, contact
City Hall to purchase a copy of the new booklet:
"Vernon Center Minnesota 150 Years 1856-2006" by
Wayne Krosch.

Pig
on the Loose!
A large pig
was found wandering near the Depot this afternoon!
Local residents attempted to round him up, but his size
intimidated even the bravest of men!
He eventually
succumbed to the late afternoon heat and dropped dead near
the railroad tracks. It has yet to be determined
who he belonged to, but some residents claim to have seen
him coming from the farm just east of the
tracks. The farmer has not been reached for
comment.
Pictures of
the pig and his demise can be seen here.

Community
Activities Abound!
There are a variety of
activities to be found in and around Vernon Center.
Some of our residents enjoy picnics, visits to the ball park
or even participating on the baseball team! For
many of our young people, taking a stroll across the new
bridge on a summer afternoon can be pleasurable.
Special events, like the recent Glidden tour offer
excitement for all, as do the balloon excursions down in
Krause's flat. For some, showing off the latest
technological innovations in agricultural equipment makes
for a fun day!
Take a look at some of of these fun
activities here.
The Many
Faces of Vernon Center
Take a tour of some of our community's fine
homes and take a stroll down the main streets of our
business district!
Vernon Center recently purchased new street
lights and resurfaced our well maintained streets. We
think these are improvements that will be appreciated by
residents and visitors alike.
