2008 4th of July Events and Activities!
A number of Vernon Center residents are currently planning the events for the 2008 celebration! Check back here often for news and updates as the Celebration schedule gets developed.
Parade: Letters will be sent out to former participants with parade requirements and application. If you have an interest in having your unit appear in this years parade, you can download the application here. Please call Wendy Bennett at: 507-549-3986 for more information.. It is not necessary to dial "507" if you are in the Mankato calling area.
Fourth of July Events for 2008!
July 3 Events:
The Vernon Center Fire Department will be holding their Fireman's Supper and Dance. Location: Fire Station, 101 N. Oak. Time: Supper will start at 6:00 p.m.. Riblets, burgers, hot dogs and chips will be served. There will also be a Beer Truck. A dance, featuring Power House, will follow the supper. July 4 Events:
Car and Tractor Show: Time: Noon – 5:00 pm. Location: Main Street
Hog Roast: Time: Noon- till gone. Location: On Main Street, and near the corner of Highway 169 and Main. The Roast will be closed during the parade. Price $5.00 per plate
Other food: A number of other vendors will be selling food at a variety of locations throughout the day.
Kid Games: Time: 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Location: Community Bank Lot. Patsey the clown will be available for Face Painting!
Pedal Tractor Pull: Times: Registration at 2:30. The Pull will start at 3:00 and will run until just before the Parade. Location: across from city park.
Parade: Time: Starts at 5:00 p.m. Location: Highway 169 and Poplar Street. Parade Participants will gather by the County sheds off County Road 10. Watch for signs.

Monster Trucks/Car Smash: Time: Starts immediately after the Parade (about 6:00 p.m.) and will run until done or just before the fireworks. Location: Pumpkinland (just south of Vernon Center, on Highway 169).
Fireworks: Time: At dusk (about 10:00 p.m.) Location: In Co-Op Field on Highway169 at the north end of Vernon Center.
